June Update
It’s Been A Bit
So I haven’t updated in a bit. I’ve been okay, just a little busy looking for work. I was pretty stressed for a while, unemployment was hard. I feel a lot more purpose when I’m working, which is probably not completely healthy if I’m being honest. I don’t know, it just makes me feel a lot more useful and feeling useful makes me feel a lot better about life in general. While I don’t currently have a full-time thing, I have picked up a contract gig that’ll help me out. And the stress has gone down because of that. Unfortunately, though I just got sick. Luckily I’m slowly feeling better and I’m really just dealing with the last little bits of it.
Assorted Bits and Bobs
I don’t have any big updates on things you guys can enjoy, so I’ll just be yammering on for a bit. I’ve still been hanging out with friends and we found a new thing to do together: going to estate sales! A mutual friend had been talking about them for a while and we finally made the time to go. It was not only really fun, but I also managed to snag a hell of a deal: I got a Quest 2 for $15 dollars! The only issues were dirt, some cracks, and a missing battery cover on one of the controllers. I was able to replace the face padding (not only was it cracked, but it’s also just a good idea to replace due to it being directly on my face and hard to clean) and the battery covers for just a little bit more than what I paid for the headset. At another estate sale later, I saw a beautiful old Singer. It looked to be in great condition with the only being a possibly missing pedal. I didn’t buy it since I already have a perfectly good sewing machine (that I should use more). But God was I tempted. But yeah estate sales are a good way to get great deals, plus sometimes they’ll discount the already cheap prices steeply if you go at the right time.
Things I Kinda Wanna Do
Artfight is starting soon so I have lots of refs to do. I know I’ll be adding at least 1 new character to my page. It’ll be my (still unnamed) favorite from the Seven Sins Seven Seas project. She represents the sin of Lust and was the start of my worldbuilding with the project. She’s a really fun design and I’m pretty proud of her, although the only way I’ve figured out. It looks like I’ll miss out on my goal of having her up before July 1st but nothing says I can’t put her up during the event! Personally, I kind of want a reinvention. Not like I’m going to magically metamorphose into a brand new me or anything, but I’ll be in a new environment and I see it as a great time to apply some extra direction in my life. Finding extra work is obviously priority #1. But I haven’t been incorporating hobbies into life well. In my defense, for a bit it felt like one fire after another, but being honest, I wasn’t doing hobbies as much when things were calm either. With so many hobbies some will inevitably get neglected at times but neglecting all of them just isn’t right. But there’ll be a separate blog post about all that.
Otome Jam
We finished Otome Jam! I loved working with this team, and though there are some touchups I have to make to the game still, I’m proud of what we accomplished and everyone was great at their roles! Although I really was panicked at the end since so much of my time had been eaten up by moving. Pro tip: try not to move during a game jam! But the game is called You’re My Angel and it’s up on itch so go check it out!
That’s all for June! THis one’s a little short since I have a longer blog post coming up that includes a little reflection so I didn’t want to repeat stuff. I hope your June was great and your July is great too! And hopefully cooler for those of you in that heatwave.
