October Update
Spooktober Review
After finishing the first version of our Spooktober entry, Possessed By Fate, for Spooktober we’ve gotten a lot of comments complimenting all parts of the game. While my part didn’t get specifically picked out in a lot of comments, that kinda means I did my job well haha. With camera and sprite movement often if they get picked out it’s because it’s giving people headaches, triggering motion sickness, etc. This has also been the game of mine that’s gotten the most attention. Weirdly enough it’s kinda made me think harder about how I present myself to the world and made me realize that a lot of stuff about promotion and getting eyes on your work. In the end, if you gush about your work enough, people will want to check it out! I have yet to play any other entries but a lot of fellow contestants have been playing each others games and that’s been really cute! I got to play a few entries too! The game will be coming to Steam after we make a few needed updates to it which will make it technically my first Steam release!
I Did The Impossible
I actually rested this month. I had multiple weekends where I just kinda laid around. I watched some movies with friends too which lead me to watching what might be my new favorite horror movie: Midsommar. Folk horror is sooo good and underrated. But I got to play some games as well. As a result, I’ve felt super inspired! I got even more ideas for projects than I already had and got new inspiration for a remake I’ve been dissatisfied with my prior outline and first remake attempt for. I also have finally gotten over my sinus issues! It took forever, but I’m finally able to breathe through my nose. My mood has also been way better. And I got an opportunity to really clean up my place. It wasn’t a disaster or anything but I got to really dust in normally neglected areas and wipe all my screens. I also got time to be introspective. I’ve decided I’m tired of the cycle of working on one project and neglecting my other ideas and then getting steered away from that idea because I feel guilty for ignoring the others. So that means another Cam’s Cavalcade eventually, also a slow update to my “Currently Working On” section. (I’ll also be slowly making projects and project groups little “buttons” like the Possessed By Fate one up there! Credit Himawariness for the idea)
Gearing Up For November
I will be trying to write 30,000 words in November. However, I am counting basically everything writing based. So planning and outlining (within reason) counts, writing for the blog and doing website updates count as well. However I’m not counting typing for coding purposes including comments. I figure this’ll make things a little too easy haha. I felt like trying to further encourage me to actually get some work done would be good. It also would help me in trying to get a little comic done for a November comic jam. I don’t think I’ll get it finished in time but by god I’m gonna try. I also think I’m gonna speak up more in my communities local and online!
In Summation
October was great in general. Halloween was spent with online friends and I got some candy. Good luck to other Americans this month in terms of elections and please go vote! Brazil and Serbia did their part so let’s do ours goddamnit!
